Greater Portland Inc., a regional economic development organization, has 10 scholarships open for businesses to learn the ins and outs of global trade.

The program, Growing Small Businesses Globally, aims to teach entrepreneurs about exchange rates, customs regulations, trade laws and other facets that make exporting goods seem difficult.

Ten scholarships are available. The organization said it is particularly interested in applicants who are women, veterans and/or people of color.

Recipients of the scholarship receive a travel and training stipend for export assistance programs, like courses on global trade management or a special advising session with local business experts.

Scholarships are funded jointly by JP Morgan Chase Foundation and the Oregon Community Foundation.

For applications, visit greaterportland2020.com/export. Applications are due by Aug. 1. For more information, call 971-339-2011.
